not ready for christmas

i am disappointed in society, but not surprised by any means.

what am i talking about you ask?

penn state and joe pa?
don't even get me started on this!

baby lisa?
sad, sad story that i hope turns out better than caylee anthony.

but No.

i am disappointed in our skipping of thanksgiving.

any and every store has christmas up!

we are glossing over a holiday here people that is supposed to remind us to stop and give thanks for what we have been given.  not desire more.  we are supposed to spend November thanking God for our blessings and remembering what is truly important in life.  not rushing into the chaotic and sometimes completely unmeaningful giving of christmas.

November begins for our family with the celebration of the best gift ever- the birth of baby girl.  And this year I have decided to take back November and Thanksgiving.  So from now until December 1, I am going to post each day about something that I am thankful for.  And I want you to take part!  Post it on facebook or twitter or your own blog or comment on my blog or just talk about it at dinner with family and friends.  But take back a forgotten holiday with me!

Today, I am thankful for all of my Columbus friends (I actually sat down and wrote about 25 thank you notes this morning to them!) and how they impacted my life while I lived there.  I was blessed to have each and everyone of them come into my life and I am a better person because of them.

So what are you thankful for today?

  1. Awesome. Idea. I am spreading the word! You are SO right - we need to remember this holiday because we have SO MUCH to be thankful for and so many people just glaze over it like it doesn't even matter.

Today I am thankful to have my family, my husband and the gift of running!!!

  4. Thankful for my husband and children. I know that sounds obvious but it is so true.

Reece and KK are thankful for the touch of winter we got with the fast and furious snowfall.
